A sort of homecoming
Between 2000 and 2006, I wrote regularly about music for the New York Observer. It was one of the best gigs I’ve had, giving me splendid opportunities to stretch myself and further develop my chops. Then, as always happens, things changed. Editors came and went at the Observer, full-time jobs came and went for me, I became a father, and so on. The next thing I knew, it had been eight years since I’d had a piece published in that salmon-hued weekly. But I’m happy to report that as of today, the hiatus is over. My first Observer piece of 2014 previews tomorrow’s Brooklyn concert by Syd Straw, an artist who means a lot to me for personal reasons that you can read more about here. Thanks to the Observer‘s editor, Ken Kurson, for taking me on board and to my agent, David Dunton, for suggesting that I get in touch with Ken. Nice to be back.
